The Gully Walk

As part of our Stage 1 History Unit, “Important People and Places In My Town”, Stage 1 students will participate in an excursion visiting The Gully, Katoomba. This area is one of the significant places in the Blue Mountains that our students will be learning about this term.

On the day, students will experience a variety of activities. They will walk around The Gully, exploring and learning about the history of the area, stopping at information points to learn from the photographic display. Students will also visit the historical centre on site as the Gully is the largest Aboriginal place in NSW. Students will also participate in a traditional Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, led by local Aborignal Elder, Aunty Sharyn Halls.
