Library

Wentworth Falls Public School library fosters positive attitudes towards reading and learning for all students. The library supports the development of literacy, information and technological skills for lifelong learning.

Our school library is a learning and recreational hub situated in the heart of the school, between the lower primary and upper primary classrooms, beside the canteen, technology learning centre, pebble-crete, covered outdoor learning area (COLA) and the hall. Student numbers support a teacher librarian for 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday) and a library technician for 2 hours a week.

Our library collection contains approximately 3,000 picture books, 1,500 junior fiction books, 2,500 senior fiction titles, 3,000 information texts, 1,500 teacher’s resources, graphic novels, magazines, maps, posters, audio, 21 iPads, 20 laptops and an online subscription to World Book Online (the username and password is wfps).

Students and parents can access our collection to search and reserve items through their student portal, Oliver.

We often host visiting authors and illustrators to inspire our budding writers and artists. Every year we invite the beautiful preschoolers from Wentworth Falls preschool to join us for the Simultaneous Storytime. We celebrate Book Week (20-24 August 2018) with dramatic readings, performances, Story, Soup and Slipper nights, Bake-a-Book competitions and of course, the Book Character Parade!

Wentworth Falls Public School are proud participants in the Premier’s Reading Challenge, 220 students completing the challenge in 2017. Go to the Premier's Reading Challenge website and use your child’s internet username (firstname.lastname) and their class name as their password.

Twice a term students will take home a Scholastic Book Club brochure, or be invited to attend a Scholastic Book Fair in the library to purchase books and other items. All Book Club payments must be made using the Loop app which is available for Apple and Android devices.

In addition to their regular class time in the library, students are welcome to come to the library to read, talk, play games and create before school and at lunch times.
