Term 2 Week 4 update

T2 W4 update

Dear Parents / Caregivers

As we have all now heard, school resumes for all students from Monday 25th May following recommendations from national and state health advice.

Please find attached information provided by the Department of Education regarding the full time return of students to school.

All school activities and operations will be following departmental guidelines based on the advice given by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC).

School Attendance:

·       All students should be at school unless they have a medical certificate which states they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition.

·       Students should be kept at home if they are unwell. A medical certificate is required after 3 days absence. If students are unwell at school then we will contact you, or emergency contacts, to collect them.

Hygiene Practices:

·       Regularly washing hands

·       Not sharing drinks or food.

·       Coughing or sneezing into their elbow or a tissue (which is placed in the bin straight away).

Activities that won’t be happening for the reminder of Term 2:

·       School assemblies

·       Excursions and incursions

·       Inter-school activities (debating, sport, etc)

·       In-school activities requiring parents or other volunteers.

Parents / carers are still asked to drop off and pick up from the school gates whenever possible. Infants’ students have been using the bottom pedestrian gate (near the Kindergarten rooms) which has been working very well. Primary students should continue to use the middle and upper pedestrian gates. Obviously if you need to enter the school please do so and then leave as soon as possible afterwards.

There should be no visitors to the school unless they are essential (check with the school if you’re unsure). When this advice changes I will let our community know.

There is a clear plan in place for schools to respond to any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19. We are working closely with NSW Health and will communicate with parents if a situation was to arise here at Wentworth Falls PS.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the school.

Thank you again for your ongoing support during the last couple of months.

Regards

Richard Giles
